Lady Gaga may be a staple at the Grammys, but this is her first time as a nominee at the Golden Globes.
“I always wanted to be an actress. This is the best thing that could have happened to me,†she told reporters backstage after her win for actress in a TV movie or limited series for her role on the FX horror anthology “American Horror Story: Hotel.â€

“You know, for many people, darkness is a bleak, empty space that’s vacant and void,†she said. “But for me, it’s an expression of our pain, and you can create something beautiful out of what makes you sad. That’s what I got to do here. It was so full of release, there was so much I had to say.â€
Playing the countess, she said, has even taught her a thing or two. “[She’s] very evil, not a good, kind person. But after 100 years, she never gave up, no matter what she went through. And in this business, the true test is if you can continue -- and I learned that from her.â€
Is the career turn -- and win -- a surprise for her, though?
“Never did I imagine that I’d be where I am now. I always imagined I’d have a long love affair with music and art, but never this. I’m so honored to be in the company of all these people.â€
