Billy Joel marries Alexis Roderick; Alexa Ray Joel says Pop’s ‘besotted yet contented’
Billy Joel and Alexis Roderick, who have a baby on the way, got married Saturday night in a ceremony that was a surprise to guests assembled for their annual Fourth of July party.
The two exchanged vows at his Long Island estate "in front of their family and close friends," a spokeswoman for the singer told People. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo officiated and actor Kevin James was among the small number of guests.
"After six years of quiet yet unrelenting devotion / A surprise wedding sets their undivided promise in motion," his daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 29, wrote on Instagram as a caption to a picture of the bride, 33, and groom, 66, in their wedding-day finest. "I've never seen Pop more besotted yet contented / Nor his Darling, more luminously glowing / And, sufficed to say / On this glimmering gold-coast day / Many a tear on my hopelessly-romantic cheek was flowing... #GoldCoastGlimmerings #LoveAndLetLove."
The newlyweds have been dating since 2009.
News that the "Piano Man" singer was expecting a baby girl this summer with the equestrian and former Morgan Stanley exec went public in April.
This is Billy Joel's fourth marriage. Alexa Ray Joel is his daughter with second wife Christie Brinkley.
