Actress Mariel Hemingway lists her oasis near Calabasas for sale
Actress and author Mariel Hemingway has listed her scenic estate in Monte Nido, an unincorporated community near Calabasas, for sale at $1.95 million.
The gated property sits on an acre covered in native plants and mature oaks. The ranch-style house, built in the late 1950s, features weathered stone siding, beamed ceilings, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. A wide veranda wraps the exterior of the home.
During her ownership, Hemingway and her partner, Bobby Williams, have turned the property into a health and wellness playground of sorts. A climbing wall, a trampoline, an outdoor gym, a chicken coop, fruit trees and organic garden beds fill the tree-topped grounds.
A teepee given to Hemingway on her 51st birthday has a fire pit. There’s also a saltwater pool designed for skin rejuvenation and an infrared sauna.
“It’s this little pocket of nature and it’s like my own private Idaho,†Hemingway said in a release. “I can just sit for hours watching the hummingbirds.â€
Besides the hummingbirds, views include a panorama of the Santa Monica Mountains.
The property last changed hands three years ago for $900,000, property records show.
Sally Forster Jones and Shauna Walters of John Aaroe Group hold the listing.
Hemingway, 54, is the granddaughter of novelist Ernest Hemingway. As an actress, she is known for her film roles in “Lipstick†(1976) and “Manhattan†(1979) and was nominated for an Academy Award for the latter.
She is the author of books including “Out Came The Sun†and “Invisible Girl.â€
