Camarillo estate sets area sales record for the year at $4 million

A contemporary-style estate in the Camarillo area has sold for a record $4 million. That may not seem like much in Los Angeles County, where sale prices often eclipse eight figures, but in the Ventura County community, it’s the highest single-family home sale of the year and one of the priciest transactions historically.

Set behind gates in a golf course community, the 8,325-square-foot house is designed for entertaining. Interior space includes 30-foot ceilings, bi-folding glass doors, a movie theater and a wet bar with a wine cellar.

A well-appointed kitchen features two wide center islands and a breakfast nook. Five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, an office and a gym also lie within the home.

Outdoors, tiered hardscaping surrounds a swimming pool with a raised spa, a waterfall feature and ambient lighting. Elsewhere, a guest/pool house holds a game room, another en suite bedroom and a covered outdoor kitchen.

Views from the property take in fairway and greenbelt vistas of the Robert E. Cupp-designed course at the Spanish Hills Country Club.

The price record for Camarillo was set by a roughly 9,100-square-foot house in the same enclave that sold in 2005 for $4.7 million. For the year, there have been five sales of $2 million or more recorded in the area.

Michael Chez of Rodeo Realty was the listing agent for the property, which came to market in March and sold for $101,000 over the asking price. David Daggett of 1st Choice Realty represented the buyer.
