James scores 42 as Cavaliers beat Heat

LeBron James scored 42 points, Mo Williams got 15 of his 30 points in the final 7:14 to lead a stirring rally, and the Cleveland Cavaliers dominated the final minutes Monday night to beat the Miami Heat, 107-100, in Miami.

“It was tough,” James said. “It’s probably one of the better wins we’ve had this year, man.”

A historic win, too. The Cavaliers are 47-12 -- 35 games over .500 for the first time in history.

Dwyane Wade’s dunk put Miami up 91-80 with 7:52 left. The Heat shot two for 17 the rest of the way, wasting the second straight 40-plus scoring effort by Wade, who finished with 41 points.

“A huge loss,” Wade said. “It hurts.”

Williams also had seven rebounds and seven assists, and got the comeback going with two three-point shots to spark a 12-0 run that erased the Miami lead.

James sealed it with 42.7 seconds left, blowing past Jamario Moon for a fierce right-handed slam to put the Cavaliers up, 100-95.

Around the league

The Denver Nuggets have suspended Carmelo Anthony for one game for an “in-game transgression” Sunday against Indiana.

“There is a code of conduct that we take very seriously, especially from a leader and co-captain,” Rex Chapman, vice president of player personnel, said. “Carmelo knows this and regrets what happened.”

Whatever got Anthony suspended wasn’t apparent to reporters at the game, and Nuggets spokesman Eric Sebastian said the team didn’t want to disclose the nature of the infraction.

The Denver Post, citing anonymous sources, said Anthony refused to come out of the game in the third quarter when Coach George Karl tried to remove him.

Anthony won’t play tonight in Detroit.
