Inmate Is Accused of Killing on Work-Release
From Times Wire Reports
An inmate shot and killed an ice cream vendor while out of jail on a work-release program, then returned to his cell, authorities in Dallas said.
Adrian Escobedo, 27, was charged earlier this month with capital murder in the November 2003 slaying of Francisco Badillo.
Escobedo had been serving a month in jail for a probation violation, and was allowed to leave each day to work at a construction job. Authorities said he failed to show up for work the day of the slaying, but returned to the jail on time that evening.
