U.S. Clears US Airways’ Deal With America West
U.S. antitrust enforcers cleared the proposed merger between US Airways Group Inc. and America West Airlines, the Justice Department said.

US Airways hopes to emerge from U.S. Bankruptcy Court protection this fall and then begin the process of merging with smaller America West. Integrating the two airlines could take more than two years, the companies have said. The new carrier will operate under the US Airways flag.
