Arnold was one of two soldiers killed June 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their armored personnel carrier outside the Baghdad suburb of Amiriya. He was assigned to the 150th Combat Engineer Battalion, 155th Brigade Combat Team, Army National Guard in Lucedale, Miss.

Cesar O. Baez, 37, of Pomona; petty officer second class, Navy. Baez was killed Wednesday when he was attacked with small-arms fire in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was a hospital corpsman assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was attached to the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Casey Byers, 22, of Schleswig, Iowa; specialist, Army National Guard. Byers was one of two soldiers killed June 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their military vehicle south of Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 224th Engineer Battalion, Army National Guard in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Mario A. Castillo, 20, of Brownwood, Texas; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Castillo was one of two Marines killed June 10 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Humvee near Fallouja, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Nathan B. Clemons, 20, of Winchester, Tenn.; private first class, Marine Corps. Clemons was killed Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle near Rutbah, in western Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Anthony S. Cometa, 21, of Las Vegas; specialist, Army National Guard. Cometa was killed Thursday when his Humvee rolled over in southern Iraq, about 10 miles from the Kuwait border. He was assigned to the 1864th Transportation Company, 106th Transportation Battalion, Army National Guard in Henderson, Nev.

Jonathan R. Flores, 18, of San Antonio; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Flores was among four Marines killed Wednesday when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device near Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. His unit was operating with the Army’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, which was attached to the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Michael R. Hayes, 29, of Morgantown, Ky.; private first class, Army National Guard. Hayes was killed Tuesday when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 617th Military Police Company, Army National Guard in Richmond, Ky.

Erik R. Heldt, 26, of Hermann, Mo.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Heldt was one of two Marines killed Thursday when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device near Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, his unit was attached to the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Sam Houston, Texas, of injuries suffered June 3 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in southeastern Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
