Party Protest
Re “Students Fight for Right to Party Loudly,” June 14: In the 1960s, college students staged demonstrations and boycotts protesting the Vietnam War, a catastrophic war that history has judged as needless and wrong. Today, while another bloody and unjustified war rages, college students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo protest for their “right” to play deafening music and disturb the peace of their neighborhood.
If there is a contrast that better reveals the apathy, hedonism and lack of civic virtue afflicting not a few modern youth, I haven’t seen it.
