Downtown Plan Would Imperil Women’s Center

Regarding “Project May Put Blighted Area on a Brighter Path,” June 8:

The site slated for development, at 4th and Main streets, is not an empty parcel, as the article and accompanying photographs made it seem.

For 26 years, the Downtown Women’s Center has been situated there, providing much-needed housing and services for women in the area.

I am concerned that the article did not mention the center or describe the potential effect of such a large-scale development upon this well-established agency and the women residents of downtown whom it serves.
