Occidental Is Cleared to Buy Vulcan Plants

Occidental Petroleum Corp. was cleared by U.S. antitrust enforcers to acquire chemical plants from Vulcan Materials Co. on condition that Occidental sell one of the plants.
The Federal Trade Commission said Los Angeles-based Occidental agreed to divest Vulcan’s plant in Port Edwards, Wis., to ensure that the acquisition won’t reduce competition in the sale of potassium hydroxide, potassium carbonate and anhydrous potassium carbonate.
