More cadavers coming to museum
“Body Worlds: The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies,” featuring preserved cadavers, closes Jan. 23 at the California Science Center, moving on to Chicago -- but the museum announced Tuesday that it will present “Body Worlds 2,” a new collection of specimens, from Jan. 29 to March 27.
Like the current exhibit, the U.S. premiere of “Body Worlds 2,” which arrives from an Asian tour, will display about 200 human specimens, including 20 full bodies, preserved by plastination, a process that keeps tissue in a lifelike state by replacing body fluids with plastic. Highlights include “Suicide by Fat -- Obesity Revealed” and “Orthopedic Man,” which demonstrates various surgically implanted devices.
Since July, more than half a million guests have visited “Body Worlds” at the science center.
