Judge Who Failed to Report DUI Is Rebuked
Superior Court Judge Donald R. Alvarez was admonished Tuesday by a state judicial agency for failing to report a drunk-driving conviction last year.
The Commission on Judicial Performance said Alvarez should have promptly reported his January 2004 conviction for driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.14%.
The judge was sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to attend an alcohol program and pay a fine. Alvarez said he intended to notify the agency after meeting the conditions of his probation and apologized for the incident, according to a commission report.
