Girl’s Killer to Pay Family $400,000

The man convicted of kidnapping and murdering 7-year-old Danielle van Dam will pay more than $400,000 to her family under a settlement that closes the civil suit her parents filed against him.
Danielle’s parents, Brenda and Damon van Dam, appeared Wednesday in San Diego County Superior Court, where Judge Wayne Peterson approved the deal. David Westerfield is imprisoned in San Quentin.
