A stake through ‘Vampires’ heart
“Dance of the Vampires,” a campy Broadway musical starring Michael Crawford of “The Phantom of the Opera” fame, is closing just a month after it opened.
The rock musical will close on Jan. 25 after 61 preview performances and just 56 regular performances, according to the show’s producers.
“Dance of the Vampires,” which featured lavish sets and flashy dance sequences, received scathing reviews from critics and its ticket sales languished. The show has been a costly flop, with a reported budget of at least $12 million.
