THEATER
Clowning around with ‘Shrew’
The Insurgo Theater Movement promises to make knockabout humor the hallmark of its production of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew,” with director Russ Marchand drawing on his
experience as a former Ringling Bros. circus clown. Certain elements that the Bard didn’t have in mind, including a stuffed parrot, are being introduced to grease the laughter as Kate battles Petruchio and spits in society’s face.
“The Taming of the Shrew,” Hunger Artists Theater, 699 S. State College Blvd., Suite A, Fullerton. Fridays and Saturdays, 8 p.m., Sundays, 7 p.m. Ends Jan. 26. $10 with reservation; $12 at the door. (714) 517-7798.
