Chargers to Make New Stadium Offer

The San Diego Chargers are offering to pay for half of a $400-million stadium they want built to replace 36-year-old Qualcomm Stadium.

Under a proposal that the team will present today, the public’s contribution of $200 million would be paid off in part by taxes generated by a mixed-use “urban village” that would include housing, shops, restaurants and a hotel on about 70 acres of the 166-acre Qualcomm site.

Police in Dallas considered more charges Wednesday against Cowboy reserve defensive back Dwayne Goodrich, who is accused in a hit-and-run accident that killed two people.

Goodrich, 24, was released from jail early Wednesday after posting $50,000 bond on two felony counts of manslaughter.

Authorities said he also could be charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Police said Goodrich was the driver of a car that slammed into the scene of a freeway accident early Tuesday.
