Court Drops Terrorism Charges Against 4 Men
From Times Wire Reports
German prosecutors who accuse four Algerians of planning to bomb a French Christmas market agreed to drop charges of belonging to a terrorist group.
The men still face sentences of up to 15 years if convicted of plotting to plant explosives in Strasbourg with the intent to kill, falsifying documents and violating weapons laws.
Officials said the move was made to speed the trial; however, some experts said it showed Western legal systems are ill-equipped to prove that suspects are part of extremist networks.
