Krikorian to Open Theater at the River
Krikorian Premiere Theatres will open a 12-screen, 2,975-seat theater in November at developer J.H. Snyder Co.’s shopping center in Rancho Mirage called the River, Los Angeles-based Snyder announced.
The Krikorian cinema complex will take the place of an Edwards Theatres Circuit Inc. complex that was planned as part of the project before Edwards filed for bankruptcy in August 2000 and pulled out of the development. The new theaters will be the entertainment anchor for the $50-million, 245,000-square-foot center at Highway 111 and Bob Hope Drive, where most of the shops and restaurants will open before the holiday season, said Snyder Co. founder Jerry Snyder.
The project was designed by Jerde Partnership International Inc. on a 30-acre site that features a river winding through the development’s shops and restaurants.
