Convictions Scrapped in Stop Sign Theft Crash

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida appeals court, citing prosecutor error, reversed the manslaughter convictions Wednesday of three people convicted of causing a fatal car crash five years ago by removing a stop sign from an intersection.
Thomas Miller, Nissa Baillie and Christopher Cole, all in their 20s, were convicted in 1997 of removing the sign. Three teenagers died later in a crash at the intersection.
Prosecutors now have 90 days to decide on a course of action.
