Los Alamitos’ Hoskins Falls in Doubles Final
The second-seeded team of Drew Hoskins of Los Alamitos and Roger Gubser of Laredo, Texas, was beaten by the fifth-seeded team of Prakash and Stephen Amritraj of Encino, 6-2, 6-4, in the boys’ 18s doubles final of the Easter Bowl/USTA Super National Spring Championships Thursday in Palm Springs.
In a third-place girls’ 16s doubles match played Wednesday, third-seeded Kady Pooler of Dana Hills and Julieanna Gates of Encinitas defeated top-seeded Lindsey Nelson of Orange and Judith DeVera of Carson, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
* Amberly Tantee of Dana Point has signed to play tennis with Florida. Tantee is a former Ojai champion in the girls’ 16s.
Tantee played at Dana Hills High her freshman year but has been home schooled the last three years.
She ended last year ranked third in Southern California in the girls’ 18s and 280th by the International Tennis Federation.
VOLLEYBALL
Villa Park middle blocker Amy Sarkaria has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at UC Santa Barbara, according to Spartan Coach Matt Cohen.
