The average taxable money-market fund posted a seven-day annualized compound yield of 5.98% as of Tuesday, up from 5.93% a week earlier, Imoneynet.com reported Thursday. That puts the average fund yield on track to top 6% next week. The last time money fund yields were above 6% was 1991. . . .

The Mexican peso continued to weaken on Thursday amid rising worries about possible unrest tied to the July 2 presidential election. It took 9.94 pesos to buy one U.S. dollar on Thursday, up from 9.84 on Wednesday and 9.33 pesos in early May. The peso hasn’t been above the 10-per-dollar threshold since early-1999. . . .
