The 96th Greater Los Angeles Auto Show is in full swing, with exhibitions of 2000 and 2001 model cars and trucks from all the major manufacturers; an “Electric Vehicle Spectrum†of passenger cars and other “no-tailpipe†EVs, including bicycles and scooters; and an aftermarket pavilion showcasing the latest in parts, accessories and services.

Specialty vehicles are among the big draws and, given the auto-buying public’s continuing passion for sport-utility vehicles, it’s no surprise that custom SUVs are on view throughout the Convention Center. One example is the BHM Navigator SE, right, a 400-horsepower, performance-tuned version of Lincoln’s popular full-size SUV, from Beverly Hills Motoring. The enhancements extend to the cabin as well, notably an Alpine multimedia audio-video system that integrates with a Palm Pilot docking station, allowing the user to “hot-sync†addresses for easier navigation.
