Investors’ margin debt--money borrowed from NYSE member brokerages to buy stocks--eased slightly in July, down 0.9% to $244.2 billion, the Big Board said. Given the rebound in the market in July, the decline in margin loans suggested that speculators weren’t going all out to bet on stocks.
