Diodes Posts Record Earnings in 2nd Quarter
Diodes Inc. in Westlake Village reported record revenue and earnings for the three months that ended June 30.
Second-quarter revenue for the semiconductor company increased 79% to $32.6 million, compared with $18.2 million for the comparable quarter last year. Net income for the same period more than quadrupled to $4.3 million, compared with $825,000 for the three months ended June 30, 1999.
Earnings per share reflect the effects of a 3-for-2 stock split announced by the company in June. Diluted earnings per share increased 360% to 46 cents, compared with 10 cents for the same period last year. Sequentially, the per-share earnings of 46 cents compares with 34 cents in the first quarter of this year.
The most recent three-month period was the company’s 41st consecutive quarter of profitability.
“These figures represent the highest recorded quarterly results in our company’s history and reflect a growing demand for our products in key markets,” said C.H. Chen, president and chief executive.
Diodes supplies semiconductor products to manufacturers in the telecommunications, computer, electronics and automotive products industries.
