From Times Wire Reports

The ruling Taliban army, with help from neighboring Pakistan, is preparing for an all-out war, the Afghan opposition claimed. In a letter to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the Afghan opposition accused Pakistan of sending weapons and paramilitary soldiers to help the Taliban. The United Nations, however, has accused both sides of receiving assistance from neighboring countries. Pakistan denies aiding the Taliban army, which has imposed draconian Islamic laws after ousting President Burhanuddin Rabbani’s government in 1996.
