Sharron Picks Up Award in Big East
Jennifer Sharron, a sophomore left-hander at Notre Dame, was selected Big East Conference co-pitcher of the week.
Sharron (8-6), a graduate of Thousand Oaks High, earned two victories against Pittsburgh last week in her first appearances after missing nine games because of an ankle injury.
GYMNASTICS
Jamie Green, Erica Rubin, Trishna Patel and Erika Harinishi, all from Gymnastics Olympica U.S.A. in Van Nuys, have qualified for the USA Gymnastics West regional championships April 16-18 in Salt Lake City.
Green and Rubin won Level 10 championships in the vault and floor exercise, respectively, in the Southern California state meet, on March 27-28 in San Diego.
Patel won a Level 9 title in the vault.
Harinishi qualified for the regional based on her standing last year.
BASKETBALL
The public is invited to attend the Cal State Northridge men’s awards banquet Monday night at 7 at the University Club on campus. The cost is $25.

MISCELLANY
Alyson Blum of Newbury Park and Dana Cohen of Calabasas were finalists for spring CIF Sportsmanship-Citizenship awards.
Blum pitches for Newbury Park’s top-rated softball team. She was an All-Marmonte League selection in water polo, is a youth group leader at her church and a volunteer at Los Robles Hospital.
Cohen is a varsity water polo player and swimmer for Calabasas, and a volunteer for Famous Fone Friends.
