Oetgen, the Titans’ top pitcher this season, had a 1.64 earned-run average last week and was 4-0, winning two games as a starter and two others in relief. A senior, Oetgen has a 13-4 record and 2.21 ERA.
THIS WEEK
Baseball: The Titans’ 17-game winning streak ended Saturday at Pacific, but Fullerton won two of three games to retain its hold on first place in the Big West Conference. The Titans (27-6, 11-1 in the conference) play the first of two three-game series against Long Beach State this weekend. Games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Blair Field in Long Beach. The Titans also play a nonconference game at 7 tonight against San Diego. Outfielder Spencer Oborn’s 32-game hitting streak will again be on the line.
Softball: The Titans are 23-15, 5-4 in the Big West. The Titans won two of three games against Long Beach State last weekend after sweeping a doubleheader against Harvard. Catcher Stephenie Little has 13 home runs and in closing in on the school season record of 15 set by Janet Lloyd in 1981. Fullerton plays at Southwestern Louisiana Friday and Saturday in games against the host team and McNeese State.
Track and field: A partial squad will compete Saturday in the UC San Diego Collegiate Classic. The meet begins at 9 a.m. The Titans had three school-record performances in last weekend’s Big West Challenge meet at UC Irvine. Brandon Campbell set a school record in winning the long jump in 23 feet 8 3/4 inches, also winning the triple jump at 46-8. Kevin Howard’s 10.76 time in the 100 meters and Tricia Gutierrez’s 11-6 3/4 effort in the pole vault also were school records.
