Recreation
It’s sad that natural recreation areas need to be closed to protect endangered species like frogs and butterflies (“Survey of Wildlife Prompts Limits on Rec Areas,” March 22). People need a chance to commune in nature. However, some are too harsh on the land and . . . it needs to be closed to recuperate. I refer mainly to motor vehicle recreationists. Jeeps, motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles regularly tear up wild areas they go into. They leave tracks, make noise, discharge fumes and drive over fellow life forms. OHV (off-highway vehicle) recreation in natural areas should be outlawed.
