Mt. Pinos Ski Patro Returns to Slopes
On weekends starting in mid-November, once again the California Nordic Ski Patrol and the U.S. Forest Service will offer round-the-clock first aid to skiers, snowboarders and other winter athletes from a ski base at Mt. Pinos in Los Padres National Forest.
A half-dozen volunteers will take up residence each weekend at the ski base, about 15 miles east of Frazier Park.
The forest service said the ski patrol typically helps 15 to 20 people each weekend at Mt. Pinos, from visitors suffering from hypothermia to major accidents that require evacuation. For more information, contact the Nordic Ski Patrol at (310) 459-8045.
