Sylmar Extends Conference Run With 42-0 Rout
George Contreras accounted for 184 of Sylmar High’s 308 rushing yards and the Spartans won their 66th consecutive Valley Pac-8 Conference game with a 42-0 victory over Reseda on Friday night at Reseda.
The Spartans (6-2-1, 6-0 in conference play) scored on five of seven first-half possessions. Contreras ran for touchdowns of three and 31 yards in the second quarter. Anthony Wells had 62 yards in 12 carries and scored two touchdowns. Wells, a defensive back, intercepted two passes.
Sylmar quarterback Noah Albiston completed nine of 11 passes for 105 yards. Running back Corey Neal had one carry for 12 yards and played sparingly at cornerback.
Sylmar held Reseda (5-4, 4-2) to nine yards passing and intercepted three passes. The Regents gained only 107 yards.
Reseda’s Joseph Looney had 58 yards in 11 carries.
