Kennedy 39, Birmingham 10--Trailing, 10-0, after one quarter, Kennedy exploded for 39 consecutive points at home.
Running back Jason Jones rushed for 150 yards in 18 carries and had touchdown runs of one and 18 yards for the Golden Cougars (6-3, 4-2). Quarterback Ruben Zaragoza began Kennedy’s scoring with a two-yard sneak in the second quarter.
Jones, who had only 15 yards in the first half, ran 18 yards for a touchdown to give Kennedy a 14-10 halftime lead.
After Jones’ second score, Jerome Williams ran 18 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter to give Kennedy a 27-10 lead.
Kennedy capped the scoring with an 18-yard run by Sanders Trent and a 15-yard run by Daron Taylor, both on reverses, in the fourth quarter.
John Wall kicked a 30-yard field goal to give Birmingham a 3-0 lead. Howard Jones ran 14 yards for a touchdown to give the Patriots (1-8, 0-6) a 10-0 lead.
