NORTHWEST VALLEY CONFERENCE
San Fernando 40, Cleveland 34--Major Caldwell rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns in 28 carries and the Tigers (5-4, 2-4) kept their playoff hopes alive at San Fernando.
Cleveland (2-7, 1-5) jumped to a 28-8 lead. Running back James Bethea ran for 258 yards and three touchdowns in 17 carries.
Bethea scored three times in his first four carries, racing for touchdowns of 70, seven and 84 yards. He also returned the second-half kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and had a 62-yard touchdown run nullified by a penalty.
San Fernando scored on four consecutive possessions in the first half.
The Tigers capitalized on a botched fake punt attempt by Cleveland and recovered an onside kick. Both led to touchdown passes by Larry Brown, who also ran for a touchdown.
