Israeli Slain in Jerusalem
JERUSALEM — A Jewish youth was stabbed to death by an Arab as he walked through Jerusalem’s Old City on his way to pray at the Western Wall today, police said.
Authorities cordoned off the Old City to search for the assailant. Several dozen Arabs were detained.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which occurred at about 6 a.m.
Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert called the incident “very, very grave” and urged the government to take further steps to stop “Arab terrorists.”
On Sunday, an Israeli woman was injured in a stabbing in west Jerusalem.
