Commercial: Experts expect office rents in many Southland markets to rise, since very few buildings have gone up in recent years and companies in such industries as new media and software are continuing to grow. Indeed, some experts predict demand for office space will continue to outstrip the pace of new building until 2002, when rents finally will dip. Still, construction of office buildings and hotels should slow from the already modest pace of the last two years.
