Young Authors’ Money-Saving Tips Are Just Low Class
Jennifer Griffin and Kera Bolonik, authors of “Frugal Indulgents: How to Cultivate Decadence When Your Age and Salary Are Under 30” (“The Swelegant Life on Pennies a Day,” Southern California Living, Dec. 10), need to grow up and get some values--the ethical kind, not the monetary kind.
They suggest that having bread and wine at an expensive restaurant, then leaving without paying with the excuse that the person you were waiting for did not show up, is a great way to get a free fancy meal. They also suggest using a bartender friend to get free drinks at a bar. They call it saving money. I call it stealing.
Why would you devote even one inch of editorial space to this self-indulgent and obviously immature pair? They may pride themselves on their “high class” taste, but their actions are nothing but low class.
