SAN DIEGO--Boat owners will deck the hulls for the San Diego Harbor Parade of Lights today and Dec. 20. The parade sets sail at 6 p.m. from the southwest end of Shelter Island, moving northeast past Seaport Village to Ferry Landing, Coronado. Free to spectators. (619) 236-1212.
SAN FRANCISCO--Whether or not you’re a treasure hunter, Treasure Island could be worth a visit. Starting today, the former Navy base is the site of a weekly open market where antiques, collectibles, food and flowers can be mined from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. After nearly 50 years under military control, Treasure Island is being transferred to civilian use. YOUNTVILLE--This mile-long community in the heart of Napa Valley continues its Festival of Lights nightly through New Year’s Eve. On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 19-20, take the kids to Santa’s Castle, located in Vintage 1870 Wine Cellar, a 130-year-old former winery that now houses specialty shops. On Sunday, take an evening ride on a horse-drawn carriage to see the thousands of sparkling lights through town. Most activities are free. (707) 944-2451.
