It would be easy to regard this reunion album from L.A.’s great ‘80s power-pop band as a last-ditch career move, but “Kool Trash” packs a more powerful punch than you might expect. Peter Case has written a bunch of literate and exuberant songs that are attacked with wit and panache by the band. Sure, no one expects the Plimsouls to become MTV darlings, but Fastball’s got nothing on these old-timers.
