An MRI has revealed starting UCLA nose guard Micah Webb suffered a torn ligament in his left knee, not a sprain, that will keep him out of the Rose Bowl, the Bruins announced.

Webb, who also sprained the ankle in the same leg, probably will require surgery on the knee. Doctors will wait for the swelling in the joint to go down before reaching a conclusion on a possible operation.

Coach Bob Toledo said he hasn’t decided who will replace Webb in the lineup, but that it probably will be freshman Ken Kocher.
