Cold-Shooting Long Beach Has Long Night in Missouri
Long Beach State didn’t stand a chance.
The 49ers shot only 33% while Kevin Ault scored 18 points, including four of five three-point attempts, in leading Southwest Missouri State to an 80-52 victory Wednesday night at Springfield, Mo.
Southwest Missouri (6-1) jumped to a 17-5 lead before the 49ers (3-5) used a 7-0 run to get to within 17-12 with 11:34 left in the first half. The Bears responded with a 17-5 run and led, 46-20, at halftime.
Long Beach State opened the second half with another 7-0 run to cut the lead to 46-27 before the Bears had an 18-7 run to put the game out of reach. The 49ers never got closer than 19 points in the second half.
Ramel Lloyd led Long Beach with 11 points.
