Waves Sink Northridge, 90-86
Pepperdine overcame a 31-point performance by Lynda Amari to beat Cal State Northridge, 90-86 in a nonconference game Wednesday night at Pepperdine.
Amari, a junior forward from Ventura College, scored 19 of her points in the second half.
Edniesha Curry added 23 points, including 21 on three-point shots, for the Matadors (4-3).
Northridge sliced a 53-35 halftime deficit to 82-81 on two free throws by Amari with 1:33 remaining.
Pepperdine (5-1) sank five of six free throws down the stretch.
Pepperdine scored 22 consecutive points in an eight-minute span after trailing, 15-12.
The Waves made 65% of their shots (21 of 32) in the first half.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Glendale 89, El Camino 69--Tony Hoggatts made five of six three-point shots and finished with 19 points for the Vaqueros in a nonconference victory at El Camino.
Hoggatts also had six rebounds and seven assists.
Denny Ogden had 21 points for Glendale (7-3). He made six of 11 from three-point range.
