Carpool Lanes

* Your Dec. 2 editorial on carpool lanes is not based on facts. Freeways are the most heavily subsidized form of transportation in this country and per mile traveled HOV lanes are one of the most expensive. Carpool lanes are not ineffective because Californians refuse to give up their vehicles. They are ineffective because they take up 20% of the space and handle 5% of the traffic. New Jersey has finally realized what California should and that is, carpool lanes don’t work.
