Ice Dogs End Impressive Streak
WINNIPEG, Canada — Jan Nemecek scored the go-ahead goal at 15:59 of the second period Sunday and the Ice Dogs ended Manitoba’s seven-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory.
The loss also snapped a 13-game unbeaten streak by the Moose (16-4-3).
Long Beach (19-7-0) moves back into a tie with Houston for the IHL points lead with 38.
Penalties made the difference for the Ice Dogs. Both Nemecek and Eric Manlow scored on power plays, while the Long Beach defense killed all six of Manitoba’s extra-man chances.
Winning goalie Manny Legace faced 18 shots, allowing only Patrice Tardif’s second-period goal.
Richard Shulmistra stopped 23 of 25 shots in goal for Manitoba.
