Leaves piling up faster than you can get rid of them?
The City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation offers several options for disposing of leaves and branches.
Residents can request a free once-a-year brush pickup, so long as branches are shorter than 4 feet and the entire load weighs less than 40 pounds. You can also purchase extra capacity tags for $1 each (maximum of five at a time; 25 maximum per year) that are attached to each bag of trash or bundle.
Tags can be purchased either through the city’s toll-free number or in person at the East Valley District Office, 9701 San Fernando Road, Sun Valley, or the West Valley District Office, 8840 Vanalden St., Northridge.
Also, residents may drop off their yard clippings from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends at Community Recycling and Resource Recovery Inc., 11201 Randall St., Sun Valley.
If your clippings and trash continuously don’t fit into your cans, an extra green can (for clippings) may be ordered for $5 per month, or an extra black can (for trash) for $10 per month. To schedule a one-time brush pickup or order extra quantity tags, call (800) 773-2489.
