Robinson Making No Statement Yet
With USC at 6-4 and the underdog going into the UCLA game Saturday, Coach John Robinson said he is sticking to his plan not to address his future until after the season.
“What I said after the Arizona State game was that I would rethink all of this with our administration after the season is over,” said Robinson, who vowed he would resign if the Trojans didn’t turn things around after a 35-7 loss to Arizona State on Oct. 11 that left the team with a 2-3 record.
“The Washington game [a 27-0 loss] was a disappointment, but we’ve seen just about every team with the exception of UCLA have a setback or two,” he said. “We’ve had a season with a lot of injuries. We have not progressed at tailback or quarterback as we would have liked because of injuries.
“But we’ve played hard throughout the year. The second half against Arizona State and the offense against Washington are the things I’m more regretful about.”
Athletic Director Mike Garrett said he will stand by his policy of evaluating coaches only after the season, and a bowl game could delay that process.

Senior running back LaVale Woods, out since the Nevada Las Vegas game Oct. 4 because of a badly sprained ankle, will play against UCLA even though he isn’t 100%.
“It’s my last game. I have to,” said Woods, who gained 129 yards against California after winning the starting tailback’s job but was injured the next week.
Woods worked at fullback Tuesday.
“Obviously, I ain’t that fast right now,” he said. “I hope I get the ball Saturday.”

With quarterback Mike Van Raaphorst still out because of a badly sprained ankle, John Fox will make his second consecutive start. . . . Tailback Delon Washington is questionable to doubtful because of a sore ankle, and receiver R. Jay Soward is playing with a sore knee that will require an MRI exam after the season.
