Vigilante update--The team went 2-4 on the last homestand but have made some roster moves. Outfielder Reuben Smiley (sore hand) was placed on the disabled list and catcher Carl Nichols was moved off the inactive list. Nichols, who was an assistant coach for the week he was on the inactive list, had two hits in Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Tri-City. Lonny Stare came off the disabled list Saturday and had a key two-run home run Sunday. “The problem we’re having is a lack of chemistry,” Stare said Sunday. “This is an incredible offensive lineup. . . We just need to start feeding off each other.” Manager Buck Rodgers, who has been in Ohio for almost two weeks after his mother died in a car accident, could rejoin the team as soon as June 24, which is the start of the next homestand. Bret Barberie, who has six seasons of major league experience, is hitting .352 (six for 17) since joining the team.
Posse update--The Posse took two of three in Mission Viejo but had its four-game winning streak stopped Sunday. Two of the three starting outfielders have ties to Orange County. Ryan Seidel, who starts in left field and is from Southern California College, is hitting .282. Jason Minici, who starts in right and is from Irvine High and Rancho Santiago College, is hitting .200. Chad Rolish (Servite High, Orange Coast College, Cal State Fullerton) is 3-1 with a 3.33 earned-run average.
