GM, Union Continue Talks to Avert Strikes

Strike deadlines have come and gone at two General Motors Corp. plants, but the United Auto Workers has agreed to continue negotiations without work stoppages. A strike at either plant, a catalytic converter factory in Oak Creek, Wis., and a metal stamping plant in Grand Rapids, could affect GM car and truck production significantly.
