Tillman J. Harper Jr.; Former Raytheon Manager
Tillman J. Harper Jr., a 30-year Ventura County resident and retired office manager for Raytheon Corp., died Thursday at his Oxnard home after a lengthy illness. He was 59.
Harper was born March 23, 1938, in Fitzgerald, Ga. He spent 10 years in the Navy and 15 years at the Naval Ships Weapons Systems Engineering Station of the Construction Battalion Center at Port Hueneme before working for Raytheon.
Family members said Harper enjoyed golf and was an avid fisherman. In addition, Harper was an active member of the engineering station’s alumni association. He and his wife, Felicity, visited many places in the U.S. in their motor home.
In addition to his wife, Harper is survived by daughter Stephanie Black of Long Beach; sons David and Jason, both of Oxnard; four grandchildren; brothers Danny Harper of Alabama and Ricky Harper of Georgia; sisters Jackie Douglas of Georgia and Eileen Braswell of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chelsea.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. at James A. Reardon Mortuary, Oxnard. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at James A. Reardon Mortuary, Oxnard, with Pastor Bernice Gomez officiating.
Harper will be interred in a private family ceremony.
Arrangements are under the direction of James A. Reardon Mortuary, Oxnard.
