Research Engineers Inc.: The Yorba Linda engineering software firm, which went public last July, posted net income of $222,000, or 4 cents a share, for the fiscal year ended March 31, which included a charge of $715,000 for research and development related to the company’s third-quarter acquisition of QSE Ltd. For the previous year, the company earned $498,000, or 12 cents a share. Revenue increased 51% to $11 million from $7.3 million.

Net income for the fourth quarter was $302,000, or 5 cents a share, compared with $288,000, or 7 cents a share, for the comparable quarter in fiscal 1996. Revenue rose 52% to $3.8 million from $2.5 million.
