Now Celebrity Furniture Can Find Its Way to Your Home
It’s always fun to have some apparel that was worn in a particular film or TV show. Now you can have some furniture from the sets of various productions.
When Hollywood dresses a set, it usually uses quality pieces. And such furnishings are automatic conversation pieces when the party gets dull: “Hey, Mike, that chair you just put your feet on was used on Roseanne’s show. She probably put her feet on it, too.”
Reel Clothes, whose first store is in Studio City, has added “& Props” to its name at a new location in Sherman Oaks. Along with some terrific deals on apparel from the entertainment industry, the second store has an interesting collection of furniture, complete with tags telling which TV or movie set each piece is from.
A slew of teal blue rattan chairs used in a film called “Zeus & Roxanne” are an excellent buy at $25 each. If you’re looking for something cheery and kind of funky, the hand-painted mirrors-cum-tables--complete with skirts--that adorned Sheneneh’s beauty salon in the TV show “Martin” are certainly worth the $250 each.
A sofa and love seat by Highland House in mint condition, and well-priced at $700 for both pieces, will appeal to traditional tastes, as will a $600 bamboo bar with two bar stools, also from “Zeus and Roxanne.”
A spaceship console with interior lights used in the upcoming film “Moonbase” may find a home with some science-fiction addict for $275.
If you saw the movie “Kazaam” with Shaquille O’Neal, you can picture him comfortably stretched out on a 15-foot sofa made of faux concrete with a metal back and cushions. You can have it in your den for $450. Be sure to measure your space before you buy.
